Ann Bianchi is a certified childbirth educator and certified doula with the International Childbirth Education Association. She has presented at national conventions on the subject of labor support with the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrical and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN), and was a co-recipient of their 2001 Research Grant. She has contributed publications related to labor support in the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing among others. She is a contributor for supplemental materials for nursing textbooks, and is on the nursing faculty for the University of Alabama in Huntsville, College of Nursing.
Niki Cobb, a Lamaze-certified childbirth educator, has been involved in parent education for over fifteen years and has taught childbirth preparation, infant care, and baby safety classes. She manages parent education programs in hospitals throughout the Denver metropolitan area through her own business and sits on the board of the local Lamaze International chapter. She greatly enjoys the relationships developed with instructors, colleagues, and families, as well as creatively meeting the joys and challenges of an ever-changing field.
Dr. Eddleman is the Director of Obstetrics at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City where he specializes in high risk obstetrics, ultrasound, and prenatal genetics. He is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He teaches medical students, residents, and physicians, lectures throughout the world, and appears often on television to discuss issues concerning the healthcare of women. He is the co-author of Pregnancy for Dummies, The Pregnancy Bible, and co-starred on the Discovery Health Channel’s Pregnancy for Dummies series.
Cathy Emeis has been a registered nurse for 38 years, a certified nurse-midwife for 10 years, and a Lamaze childbirth educator for 23 years. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and a Fellow of Lamaze International. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor and practicing midwife in the Nurse-Midwifery department at Oregon Health & Sciences University, Portland, OR.
Cathy Heise has been educating and supporting expectant families in childbirth, parenting and breastfeeding since 1980. She currently practices as an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant at The Lactation Program, sponsored by the Colorado Health Foundation in Denver, Colorado. Cathy is a Lamaze certified childbirth educator and is the Co-Director of the Lamaze International Denver Chapter, CPAC Childbirth Educator Program. She is also a member of the Lamaze International Education Council Governing Body. Cathy has presented at many conferences and local childbirth seminars on promoting normal birth and teaching strategies.
Tammy Lantz is a registered dietitian and a certified lactation counselor. She is a graduate of the dietetics program at the University of Northern Colorado. She has her own breastfeeding consulting business and has worked at the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) since 2004. Tammy currently is the breastfeeding coordinator of Denver County WIC. She manages breastfeeding education and breastfeeding promotion for WIC mothers, continued education for staff, and implements clinic procedures based on current literature. Tammy has been an active member of the Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition since 2005 and is currently serving as chair- elect.
Judi Lauwers is the author of Quick Reference for the Lactation Professional and coauthor of Counseling the Nursing Mother: A Lactation Consultant’s Guide and Breastfeeding Today: A Mother’s Companion. She is the Education Coordinator and past board member of the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) and a practicing lactation consultant at Doylestown Hospital in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Judi and her husband, Dave, live in Chalfont Pennsylvania where they raised two sons.
Marianne Neifert, MD, is a pediatrician, author, and nationally recognized expert in breastfeeding management. Dr. Neifert is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at University of Colorado Denver, and a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Breastfeeding and the Health Advisory Council of La Leche League, International. She has authored five books and hundreds of magazine articles on children's health and parenting. Dr. Neifert has been a guest on national television programs including the Today Show, Good Morning America, 20/20, and CNN. She has also published numerous articles in the medical literature on the topic of breastfeeding and has lectured to health professionals around the world.
Jennifer Shu, MD, is a pediatrician, author, and mother. She is editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Baby & Child Health and co-author of the award-winning book Heading Home with Your Newborn and Food Fights, both published by the AAP. An enthusiastic and experienced writer and public speaker based in Atlanta, Dr. Shu is an editorial advisor for parenting magazines, consultant for health-related web sites, and a frequent guest expert on CNN, Headline News, MSNBC and Discovery Health, as well as in US News & World Report, USA Today, and numerous magazines, newspapers and medical publications.
Laurel Wilson is certified as a childbirth and lactation educator, lactation counselor, and labor doula. She also owns and manages MotherJourney in Centennial, Colorado. Laurel has received her training with Union Institute and University, Healthy Children, DONA, ALACE, and CAPPA. She serves as the CAPPA Director of Lactation Programs and trains Childbirth Educators and Lactation Educators for CAPPA certification. Laurel offers breastfeeding and childbirth education and movement classes to families in private and hospital settings.
